along with our best wishes on her and Justin’s upcoming wedding on Saturday,
August 9, 2008.
One
of our recently engaged couples is planning a trip to Las Vegas on October 11. No names and no plans can be divulged in this

a catch you will each be getting.

July 2008 Newsletter
Larry
Pederzani, MMBC President, opened the meeting by greeting club members and
offering birthday greetings this month to Donna Hannel (July 8) and Justin Fowler (July 23). He also gave best wishes to himself and Gail
Pederzani for their upcoming July 4th anniversary. He then introduced Lance Renfrew who came to
the meeting to meet and get to know everyone to see if he and his wife, Brenda,
would be a good “fit” in our group.
Lance found our club by doing a web search for bass clubs in the Austin area. Larry’s work on the MMBC website has proved
to be extremely worthwhile.
General Club Information
Brenda
Davis, Secretary, offered to read the minutes from the June meeting if
requested. It wasn’t requested.
Cliff
Davis, Treasurer, gave all members a written treasurer’s report. There were no questions presented to
Cliff. The members approved the

Glenda
Summers passed on a message of “Thanks” from Allen Summers (due to Allen’s work
schedule he wasn’t able to attend the meeting) for his “Special Thanks”
certificate and his birthday celebration at Johnny Fins after the June
tournament. We return “ Our Thanks and
Gratitude” to Allen for his support of the Mr. And Mrs. Bass Club. The club wouldn’t be what it is without
Allen’s support.
Tournament News
Luther
Lentz, Tournament Director, announced the winners of the June 28th Lake Travis
tournament.
Jerry
and Pat Gold won with a whopping weight of 17.42 pounds. Glenda and Allen Summers placed second with a

what) and the Pederzani’s caught theirs on Tiki sticks and snakes.
Pat
Gold had a 3.94 pounder that won women’s Big Bass and Jerry Gold had a 5.26
pounder that won men’s Big Bass.
Members
then selected the lake and fishing times for the July 12th

until 9 am (Sunday July 13)
Weigh-in will be at the 360
Bridge ramp
The
following MMBC tournaments will be held on August 16th and September
6th. Lake
and times will be determined later.
Past and Present News
Larry
reported on the latest TABC meeting.
Regarding the Championship there is a 7 pm Captain’s meeting planned on
Friday the 26th of September at the Bell County
Convention
Center.
Registration will be on Friday from 2 pm until 6:45 pm also at the
Convention Center. We will be sending 12
couples, 3 teams, to represent the MMBC.
Those teams will be determined after the July tournament. Fishing hours at the TABC tournament will be
safe light until 2 pm on Saturday and safe light until 1 pm on Sunday. TABC has planned a dinner for Saturday
evening. Larry Pederzani, Allen Summers
and Pete Trevino will keep us informed on TABC plans.
Brenda
Davis gave an update on the fall two-day tournament. Most members will be staying at the Sunbridge
Inn in Zapata, TX.
Their phone number is 956-765-1221. There are 12 rooms blocked for the
dates of October 31st and November 1st - six couples have
made reservations. Room rates are
$70.00. When making your reservation
tell them you are with the MMBC. The
Sunbridge Inn is going to give us $150 to purchase groceries with if we want to
cook on premises. Assume we will take
them up on their offer. The men in the
club can make a menu, go to the store, cook the meal and clean up afterwards
and the women can plug in the charger on the boat!!!!!!!! Does that sound like a good plan to everyone?
Lastly,
the members of the MMBC wish to extend their condolences to Gary and Vicki
Schrempp on the passing of Gary’s
mother. We hope you had a safe trip to
and from Illinois
and we look forward to seeing you soon.

for the months of October and November 2008.
After much discussion members decided to hold the fall two-day
tournament on the dates of November 1st and 2nd, 2008 on

May 2008 Newsletter
MMBC President Larry Pederzani delayed the start of the
meeting a few minutes because some members were caught in traffic, appears Austin and the
surrounding area traffic will only get worse.
That’s one of the side effects of living in such a desirable
location.
The
first order of business was introducing Candee and Jason Barris who joined the
club at the April tournament. The
Barris’ are both in the Armed Services stationed at Ft. Hood. We are proud to have them as club members.
Jason and Candee Barris
Larry
passed out hats, membership cards and decals from TABC for all club
members. He brought up the matter of how
many teams could represent the MMBC at the 2008 TABC championship. With the donations provided by sponsors
brought to our club by Allen Summers it is feasible all teams could participate
in the tournament. In case anyone needs
to start checking their calendar the TABC Championship is scheduled for the
dates of September 27 and 28, 2008. The
lake choice at present is Stillhouse and Belton.
General Club
Information
Cliff
Davis, MMBC club treasurer, gave members a detailed written and verbal report
on the club’s current financial status.
Tournament News
MMBC
tournament director, Luther Lentz, reviewed the outcome of the April 19
tournament held on Stillhouse Hollow Reservoir.
A shakey head jig, a weighted and non-weighted tiki stick and a
Carolina-rig were the lures the top three teams and big bass victors used to
catch their fish.
Luther
then brought up the May 17 tournament and took nominations pertaining to
location, times and weigh-in location.
The members voted and the outcome was:
The May 17th tournament will be
held on Choke Canyon from 6 am until 4 pm with
South Shore being the weigh-in location.
Some
members will be staying overnight at the Best Western Motel (361 786-2000) in Three Rivers before and/or
after the tournament.
It
was also determined the July tournament will be on July 12. June’s tournament date is June 28 and all
particulars of the tournament will be determined at the June 3 business
meeting.
Past and Present
Events
Larry
brought up the 2008 Fall Two-Day tournament for discussion. Members were asked to bring suggestions on
lake choices to the June 3 business meeting.
It is requested that if you nominate a lake you have lodging information
available and have researched the lake in question as to dates for any large
tournaments scheduled for the lake.
Tina
Call brought up the subject of adding a new rule to our policies. One
of our newest club members, Jason Barris, wanted to know if we did a numbered
take off during our tournaments – guess he didn’t figure that one out real
quickly when everyone zoomed off at the Stillhouse Tournament and he and Candee
were still waiting for their number! We
apologize for not giving y’all a complete rundown of our methods and rules
Jason and Candee. We’re a little short
sighted at times.

June
28th was selected as the June tournament date
Past Events
Tina Call presented all the teams with a fizzing needle at
the April meeting. Many thanks
Tina. Now all we need is a big bass to
use it on – maybe at Stillhouse on the 19th?
Present Events
Steve Magnelia gave members an excellent speech on the
subjects of identifying Guadalupe and Spottie bass and the many varieties of
aquatic vegetation we have in freshwater lakes.
He presented slides of good versus bad regarding different vegetation
species.
Steve said spotted bass caught in the Edwards
Plateau watershed are referred to as
Guadalupe Bass and those caught in East Texas
are called spotted bass. A new publication entitled “Freshwater Fishes of
Texas” is available through TP&WD, which should be helpful to anyone who is
in doubt about any Texas
freshwater fish identity.
After a rather lengthy question and answer session we gave
Steve a hardy “Thank You” for coming and sharing his knowledge with us. We thoroughly enjoyed having Steve speak to us
and would enjoy having him return anytime it would be convenient for him to do
so.

March 2008 Newsletter
Larry Pederzani welcomed current club members and new club
members Rhonda and Frank Jenkins.
Although the Jenkins will not be able to attend the March, Sam Rayburn,
tournament they officially joined the club March 4th and plan to
participate in other upcoming club tournaments.
General Club Information
Larry turned the floor over to Brenda Davis, the club
secretary, for a reading of the minutes from the February meeting. She read the minutes and they were approved
by the membership.
Cliff Davis, MMBC club treasurer, was then given the floor
and gave a report on the club’s current bank account. Members also approved Cliff’s report. Tournament News
Larry then turned the meeting over to Luther Lentz, our
Tournament Director, for a rundown on the February 16th, Belton
Reservoir tournament. Luther recognized
3rd place winners, Gail and Larry Pederzani who had a bag of 7.85
pounds, 2nd place winners, Rosemarie and Pete Trevino who came in
with an 8.49 limit of five fish and 1st place winners, Alice and
Luther Lentz who brought in 10.21 pounds with their five fish limit. Big bass
honors for the women went to Vickie Schrempp with a 1.81-pound largemouth and
Luther Lentz brought in men’s big bass with a 3.20-pound largemouth.
The first, second and third place winners gave a brief
description of where and what they caught their fish on.
Luther then took suggestions as to time and weigh-in
locations for the upcoming Sam Rayburn tournament. After discussing many possibilities the
tournament times and weigh-in location chosen are:
Saturday,
March 15, 7 am until 4 pm with weigh-in at the County Boat Ramp
Sunday,
March 16, 7 am until 2 pm with weigh-in again at the County Boat Ramp
MMBC tournament date for April -- April 19th
MMBC tournament date for May ---- May 17th
Past and Present Events
Our superhero Allen S. has brought in three sponsors for our
club this year. This man performs
extraordinary feats! George Hudgins and
Jack Arsenault are again contributing the monies to pay every members membership
into TABC. Allen S. has added a third
contributor to our club who wishes to remain anonymous. Donations from these benefactors probably
mean the entire club will have a paid entry into the 2008 TABC
Championship. Thank you Allen, Jack,
George and our new anonymous friend.
Larry, after spending a day on the lake with Allen (L.) and
learning that Allen and Josie enjoy crawfish/shrimp boils, has requested that
Allen and Josie consider planning and overseeing a crawfish/shrimp boil after
the April or May tournament. This will
require more discussion and planning on behalf of the Logan’s as well as the general
membership. Sounds like fun.
Tina Call wasn’t able to attend the March meeting so we will
get an update at the March tournament regarding her being able to supply
members with a fish fizzing needle.
Larry built the club an excellent enclosure for the weigh-in
scales. It entirely blocks the wind from
the scales providing us with a much more accurate weight. We are truly impressed Mr. Engineer Pederzani,
you did a fantastic job. We appreciate
it.
Larry brought up the subject of inviting another speaker to
the monthly meeting. Several people were
mentioned. Larry is going to research this matter and see if one of them is
available and would like to join us for an evening.

Club (MMBC)
February 2008 Newsletter
Mr. and Mrs. Bass Club President Larry Pederzani began the
February 5th business meeting by introducing guests Tim and Lori
Cook, Leslie Clark’s adorable daughter Lillie and Frank and Rhonda Jenkins. The Jenkins are considering joining a bass
club and they were there to acquaint themselves with club members.

Frank and Rhonda Jenkins Tim, the State Conservation Director for Bass Federation,
was a guest speaker at this meeting.
Tim counseled members on ways to keep fish held in livewells alive and
released back into the water in a healthy state. Tim reminded us that public perception is one
of any club’s largest allies. When fish
are released and swim off in a fresh and hardy manner public perception is good
but when the public sees released fish floundering and fighting to stay alive
public perception becomes appalling.
Fish kills are bad for everyone.
Restrictions on anglers, water bodies etc. may be the outcome. And fish resources are already strained so we
as anglers must respect and do our utmost to protect our fisheries.
Tim said adding commercial products such as SureLife’s
Please Release Me, Catch and Release or simple hydrogen peroxide to
livewells is beneficial and highly recommended.
Keeping your aerator system on continuously is also recommended. Adding ice to your livewells in the summer to
lower the water temperature will help keep fish healthy. Many fish that appear to be all right at
weigh-in die after being released so the more attention and care they receive
while boated the lower the mortality rate.
We thank Tim for sharing his knowledge with us and look
forward to having him speak to us again in the future. Lori Cook is working on her own presentation,
probably a little bundle between 6 and 8 pounds of pure joy and sweetness. We wish the Cook’s all the best next month
when they give the world what will probably be another fine angler!

Speaker Tim Cook at Mr. and Mrs Bass Club of Austin Club Meeting
Tournament News
Luther Lentz, MMBC Tournament Director, acknowledged the top
three winners of the January 12th Lake Travis MMBC Tournament. First
place winners were Allen and Glenda Summers, second place honors went to Tina
Call and Tim Baker and Gail and Larry Pederzani took third place. Glenda had women’s big bass of the tournament
and Pete Trevino caught men’s big bass.
Fishing, or rather catching, was a little tough but by and large it was
a great day on the lake.
Lake Belton, from 7 am until 3 pm, was chosen as the
location for our February 16th tournament. Temple Lake Park will be the weigh-in
site.
Luther reminded everybody that the spring two-day tournament
will be on March 15 and 16 at Lake Sam Rayburn.
Fishing times and weigh-in site will be determined at the March 4th
business meeting. The BassBuster Inn in
Brookeland, TX at 409 698-3002 will be club headquarters (because most of the
club will be staying there)
April 19th was voted in as the date for our
following tournament.
Thanks Luther for doing a superb job in your new position as

January 2008 Newsletter
Our first meeting of the new-year was held in a very
festive, beautiful setting at the UT Club, thanks to Joe and Marilyn
Connell. It was a wonderful party
attended by Tim Baker and Tina Call, Robert Brown and Leslie Clark, Joe and
Marilyn Connell, Cliff and Brenda Davis, Jerry and Pat Gold, Luther and Alice
Lentz, Allen and Josie Logan, Larry and Gail Pederzani, Gary and Vicki
Schrempp, Allen and Glenda Summers, Pete and Rosemarie Trevino, Jim Tyree and
Donna Hannel. Also in attendance were
Jack Arsenault and his guest and George Hudgins and his guest. Jack and
George’s sponsorship of the Mr. and Mrs. Bass Club provided members entry to
the Texas Association of Bass Clubs along with entry for two teams to fish the
2007 state championship of the TABC. The meeting January 5th was intentionally short
and direct so club members could enjoy visiting and partying with friends. It was the shortest business meeting on
record, less than 10 minutes, and everyone had a fantastic time at the
party. The food was marvelous and the
dinner club was beautiful. There is no
way we can say ‘Thank You’ enough to Joe, Marilyn and Joe’s staff for such an
awesome evening. But we will try, Thank
You, Joe! Marilyn, the slideshow you personally composed and
presented was the highlight of the evening.
You always go the extra mile and this was certainly no exception. It was extraordinary and we all Thank You so
very much! Making copies for everyone
was another of your “Marilyn” touches – you are a special person with talents
far beyond most. Many Thanks again from
all of us. Meeting Summary Club President Larry Pederzani introduced our special
guest Jack Arsenault and his guest and George Hudgins and his guest. Larry expressed our thanks and appreciation
for their sponsorship of our club. Larry took a final vote pertaining to the elimination of
Items 2 and 3 from Section I: Membership of the club Constitution. Members voted unanimously to eliminate these
and the Constitution has now been amended to show this. Members, having discussed this at the December meeting,
voted on and finalized the decision to rewrite the Constitution under Section
II: Organization to read as follows: The officers of this club will be
a President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Tournament
Director. The President and
Vice-President cannot be from the same team.
Officers for the upcoming year will be nominated and elected at the
December meeting. Nominations and secret
election ballots will be conducted for each position in the following
order: President, Vice-President,
Secretary, Treasurer, and Tournament Director.
Each individual nominated must accept the nomination prior to voting on
the specific position. Newly elected
officers will become official at the January meeting. Cliff Davis, the newly elected treasurer for 2008,
announced he has completed the paperwork and has had the club proclaimed a
Non-Profit Corporation through the office of the Texas Secretary of State. He is working with Pete Trevino and Larry
Pederzani on getting our club bank account changed over. Awards Presentation Larry Pederzani, Pres. and Brenda Davis, 2007 V-P,
